Selecting the right body for your truck is an important process. Here are 10 golden rules to help you….

1) Using a reputable supplier will ensure the bodies thermal properties are correct.

2) Durable but lightweight construction will give the all important payload whilst minimising potential damage.

3) Look for reinforced perimeter sections preferably in aluminium to help prevent knocks and dings becoming something worse.

4) A company with a nationwide after sales support will help with repairs and parts and keep your body operating to its full potential.

5) Look for features that have been engineered into the construction to help reduce potential damage.

6) On larger rigids, docking bay protection and front interior bulkhead protection are two key areas.

7) On smaller rigids its often payload and ease of use for multi drop deliveries that become more important.

8) Ask the supplier about his other clients, and then speak to them about the supplier and his product.

9) Don’t be afraid to change supplier. Always using the same bodybuilder can lead to complacency.

10) Take your time. Don’t be rushed or blinded by what may seem a good deal, long term that may not be the case, and ask if they are members of Transfrigoroute. If they are then you know they are serious about the refrigerated transport industry.
